Expectations
THE CANDIDATE
A child’s readiness for the celebration of the sacrament is assessed using the following criteria:- A desire to receive the Eucharist
- An understanding of the Eucharist as the real body and blood of Christ, that what appears as bread and wine are actually His living body.
- An awareness of the significance of participating in Sunday Eucharist.
- An understanding of God’s action of grace in their lives and of their responsibility to be in a state of grace to receive the Eucharist worthily.
- An awareness of God’s invitation to be His child and friend.
THE PARENTS
(Same listed under the 1st Reconciliation Page and the following two)- Being a healthy model for their children by approaching the Sacrament of Eucharist on a regular basis
- Continuing their own personal growth and understanding of the Sacrament of Eucharist by attending classes designed for parents/guardians of the children preparing for the celebration the sacrament.
